A couple of quick cards

Here is a very quick card I made for my Dad for his birthday.

I used Kraft card as a base and kept the colors neutral. The papers and topper are from Docrafts. I embossed another piece of Kraft card and blue piece using the Crafters Companion textures hessian embossing folder.

I love the texture range that they have brought out.

Its quite simple but my Dad really liked it.

I made quite a few of these cards in different color ways as they are really quick and simple to do.

I embossed a piece of patterned paper using a Sheena Douglas embossing folder that looks like splats. I then used a butterfly stamp that was free with Crafters Inspiration Issue 9 and colored the butterfly with my Spectrum Aqua markers. The sentiment stamp was also free on the magazine.

Busy few months!!!!

I cannot believe how quick this year is going. Time literally seems to be flying.

I have a new job which I have been learning the ropes to. I have been crafting in my spare time but just forgot about the blog!!!

So here I go, lets go back to Christmas.......

For the last few years my Mum and I have loved the Great British Bake Off and each Christmas we have a bake off with my youngest son being the judge.

These were this years entries.

Unfortunately I didn't win this year. I made the snowman cake on the right and my Mum made the snowflake cake but the judge thought the snowflake cake had more elements to it. Oh well I will try again next year.

It was my Grandma's birthday in February so I made her this card. I used white embossing powder for the outline of the stamp and then colored the image in with my Spectrum  Aqua Markers. I didn't write down what colors I used just enjoyed the coloring (sorry)

February spectrum noir challenge

This months theme for the Spectrum Noir challenge is reds or pinks so I decided to have a go and enter.

The image was free from Tiddly Inks and is called Awww Thanks!

I used the following Spectrum Noir Pens to colour in the image

T Shirt PP5, PP4, PP3, PP2

Trousers CR11,CR9, CR7

Hair TN7, TN5, TN4, TN3

Skin TN2, FS9, FS3, FS2, CR3

Flowers, Leaves OR1,OR3,JG2, JG1

Here is a closer look

To put the card together I used a 5x7 kraft card as my base.

I used a free cutting file from birds cards and cut it out with my Brother Scan and Cut.

I stamped sentiment was free from a Crafters Companion Magazine and I used StazOn Jet black, 

This is going to a special friend whose birthday it is soon. I hope she likes it.

Fairy card and frame gift

I recently made this card for my friend's birthday which then also became in a gift.

I used a image off the Flights of Fantasy CD Rom and coloured it in with my Spectrum Aqua Markers.

The colours I used were 

Dress - Kingfisher, Heather

Blackberries/Butterfly - Purple

Skin - Peach

Flowers -Blossom

Butterfly - Begonia, Crimson

Dragonfly - Seagrass

Flower middles - Sunflower

Hair - Dessert

Leafs -  Bud Green

I decided to decorate a frame so that when the card was finished with, my friend could then attach it on the front of the frame. 

Here is the finished result.

I cut the letters out with my Brother Scan and Cut in vinyl and used transfer paper to put them onto the frame. The flowers were also cut out using my Brother Scan and Cut and coloured using Spectrum Aqua Markers - Kingfisher and Heather to match the dress. 

 

My friend loved it and knew exactly where it was going to hang in her house.

Fairy picture frame

My friend had a poem and asked me if I could print it out for her a put it in a frame for her daughters birthday.

Here is the final result.

I found this really difficult to photograph because of the glass. The photos don't do this justice!

I used Serif Craft Artist for the design. The digi kit I used was fairies. 

I cut everything out with my brother scan and cut.

As you can see in the photo above I used embossed acetate for water coming out of the watering can.

My friend was over thew moon with the finished result and her daughter loved it.

Let's Create Dabble Day

Well I have a had a fantastic day at Tattershall today. Mum and I decided to go to the dabble day which was organised by the owners of Let's create shop Mark and Jo Channon.

There were four different projects to complete during the day, lunch was provided with plenty of homemade yummy things and in the afternoon we had afternoon tea with cakes!

The first project we did was a gift card. We did this project with Caroline Whatling. I really enjoyed learning the inking techniques on this project. Here is my finished card.

We then made this fabulous candle holder with Jo Channon. I loved this as it would be cheap to make for Christmas presents but looks really effective. I will definitely be making more of these.

These pictures really don't do this justice! The images came a lot richer once the glue was dry.

After lunch we made a card using Tattered Lace Dies with Lizzy Curtis. My Mum loved using the baby blue die cutting machine and I think I will be seeing one in her craft room very soon!

After afternoon tea we did our final project with Antony Minnis and Samantha Thompson from Pinflair. I have never made anything like this but I loved it. I will be definitely making more MDF projects in the future. We used candle wax as a resist and then stamped over the top, just brilliant. Here is my finished sleigh.

As you can see I have made some lovely things and have had a fantastic day.

October Spectrum Noir Challenge

Well it has been so long since I have last blogged. Time just seems to go nowhere!

Through the summer I have made my Christmas cards but other than that I really haven't done a lot of crafting.

I am finding I am watching and looking at what everybody else is doing and doing none myself!

Anyway I decided last minute to enter the Spectrum noir October challenge.

The theme is grey and orange.

I decided to make the card into a birthday card so I could give it as a birthday card for my friends son whose birthday is in November.

The digital stamp was free from Complete Cardmaking and is from Pollycraft.

I coloured the image using the following spectrum noir pens

Jacket BG1, BG2, BG4

Jeans TB3, TB5, TB7 and then went over the top with BT4

Shoes BGR1 and Blender

Hair GB2, GB8

T Shirt OR1, OR2,OR3

Face/Hands FS2, FS3, TN2, CR3 

To assemble the card I used a black card base. Then a orange mat. I then embossed a black piece of card using the textures embossing folder from Crafters Companion. I brought the embossing out using pebeo gilding wax renaissance gold.

I also embossed a grey piece of paper using the same embossing folder.

I then tore the grey and orange piece and assembled as shown.

The sentiment was stamped and came free from Crafters Companion Inspiration magazine.

I will try and blog a little more in future.

Spectrum noir July competition

I decided to enter the Spectrum noir July competition. 

This months theme was all about summer so this is what I have created.

I used both spectrum noir pens and pencils to colour the image in. 

They are as follows

CT2,CT4,GB5,GB8,GB10,EB5, LG1, LG2, LG3, LG5,

13, 18, 22, 45, 46, 49, 86, 96, 101 and 65.

My Mum's favourite flowers are sunflowers and she was called Sunflower at the Brownie pack she was leader for.

Her birthday is in September so I think she will receive this card and love it.

Last Day at School-Teacher Gifts

Today as been the last day at school and my boys have broken up for the summer.

I made my youngest son a present and card for his teacher as he is still in primary school.

Here it is...

The stamp I used was Crafters Companion Bebunni and I coloured the image in with my spectrum noir pencils. The colours I have  used are the following:

14,17,18,34,35,36,37,38, 41,42,56,57,58,59,65,69,78,112,116 and117

I also did a book fold for her and decorated the outside using craft artist.Unfortunately I can't show you the sides as it as photos of my son with his teacher.

His teacher was thrilled with her gift, hope you like it too x

Spectrum Noir Competition

Well its been so long since I have last updated my blog!!!

I have been really busy with my proper job I haven't done much crafting.

In April things got a little quiet and I decided to learn how to use my spectrum noir pens! They have looked really pretty on the side for too long!

Anyway after watching lots of you tube videos I have made a few cards with them.

Unfortunately I can't show you any as I have made them for family and friends birthdays for July and August. (You haven't got too long to wait now)

In June I entered the spectrum noir June competition for the first time. The theme was add a bit of sparkle or bling to your card. Here is the card I entered.

I only went and won the top 3

Excited is an understatement!

Here are the colours I used to colour the bebunni in: IG2, IG4, IG6, PP1, PP2, PP4, DG1, DG2, DG3,TB3, TB5, TB6, DR1, DR6, DR6 + pencils 25, 27, 28, 34, 35, 36, 56, 59, 60, 64, 67, 70, 112, 114, 115.

Marie and Nathan's Wedding Day

Well today I can reveal the wedding invitations and wedding favors I made for my best friends wedding. I was very honoured to be asked to be bridesmaid as well. I would have done anything not to be because to be quite honest whenever I have been a bridesmaid in the past the wedding as been cancelled or they are now divorced!!!! Marie knew this but still wanted me.

I wish Marie and Nathan the very best for their future together and thank you for letting me play a big part in your very special day. I loved every minute, it was just so perfect, relaxed and beautiful.

Day time invitations

All the flowers had Nathan and Marie on them.

The right hand section had the guest choices. On the reverse was Nathan and Marie's address. This was perforated so guests could tear it off, attach a stamp and send off

The tags had the menus and gift guide on them.

Evening invitations

Favor boxes for adults and gift boxes for children

Each favor box had the guests food choice on the back. These were filled with sweets.

The set tables, just beautiful.

All cut out using my Brother Scan and Cut. Invitation wording were created in Serif Craft Artist.

The first Orby Produce and Craft Show

These last few weeks have been so busy!!! I managed to enter the Orby show. It was the first one they have held and my Mum's friend had organised it. For this I just entered a birthday card and I won 1st place!!!!

Unfortunately I couldn't go to the show because I had 16 ladies coming round to my house for one of my best friends hen night!!! It was absolutely brilliant. Its the wedding on Saturday, I am one of the bridesmaid so I will show you the bits I made for the wedding after the big event.... can't wait xxx

Wainfleet Horticultural Show

Today was the Wainfleet Horticultural show. My Grandma has been a member since it first began so I try and put a few entries in for her really. My Mum also puts some bits in so we have a little competition between ourselves which is always fun.

These were my entries for this year. A handmade Christmas cracker, A knitted child's hat, A Christmas card, Ginger cake, Victorian Sandwich and flapjack. I made three Christmas cards. I thought I would see what would happen with less traditional cards so made two box cards.

I did really well and was really pleased with myself. The modern twist on the box cards didn't pay off and I wasn't placed, so next year I will keep with tradition.















To my amazement at the prize giving I was awarded a trophy for most points received in the Home craft section!!!

By the way my Mum was placed 1st in the Christmas Card section using her Phill Martin stamps.
(I did think it would win but watch out next year Mum lol x )

Summer Crafting

Mum, my youngest son and I went to Summer Crafting at Doncaster race course this year and we had a fantastic time. The highlight for me was making a flower with Mel Heaton.
I have used these flowers several times on my cards.

They are really easy to make just 6 circles.
It is every body's birthday in our house at the moment. Once it is over I will post the pictures of the cards I have made.
